Public Radio KCEP-FM is proud to welcome Nevada Health Co-op as it’s newest non-profit member.

You’ve heard a lot about healthcare lately. But have you heard about Uncomplicare? It’s healthcare…Uncomplicated. It means: FREE co-pays for some doctor visits and medications. It means: FREE check-ups and screenings. It means: In some cases even your premiums could be FREE.

Health care hasn’t always been so complicated. In the beginning it was simple, neighbors helping neighbors. It was about compassion.

In 2010 The Affordable Care Act was signed into law, and in some small way, compassion made a comeback. The ACA created 25 state health insurance co-operatives, including the first member-operated health insurance plan in Nevada history—Nevada Health Co-Op. This was a great moment for our country. A chance to make our health care system work better, for more of us.

We believe health insurance shouldn’t be so complicated, so daunting, so controversial. It should be personal, caring and once again, people helping people. Nevada Health Co-Op is here for one reason: to make health insurance simply better.

The Affordable Care Act was created to give consumers greater control over their health care. Under this new law, the American people will have greater access to resources and information they need to make informed decisions about their health and greater access to quality care.

A key element to Health Care Reform was the establishment of new, member-operated, member-focused, health insurance co-operatives to ensure all Americans have access to quality health insurance. These co-operatives, including Nevada Health Co-Op, will help you:

  • Search for and compare private health plans
  • Get answers to questions about your health coverage options
  • Get a break on costs
  • Enroll in a plan that meets your family’s needs

This is an unprecedented opportunity for all Americans to take control of their health care and their family’s health and well-being.

We encourage you to learn more about the program at the government’s official website:
