KCEP was honored Aug. 18 at the Red Rock Resort with the Community Achievement Award for its 40 years of on-air service in Las Vegas at the 17th Annual Nevada Broadcasters Association Awards Gala.
Hosted at the fabulous Red Rock Casino, broadcasters from across the state gathered together to celebrate the accomplishments of their colleagues. Awards were given to local FOX5 news anchors Jason Fienberg and Heidi Hayes.
General Manager and Program Director, Craig Knight accepted the award on behalf of the station and gave thanks to God and the entire staff for working tirelessly to make Power 88 the best urban radio station in Las Vegas.
As a public broadcast station, KCEP serves as the eyes and ears of an important part of the Las Vegas community. They have effectively served the community with important public service announcements, career internship programs and the highest caliber of community talk shows covering important topics that affect their listener’s lives.
They have been consistently committed to helping aspiring broadcasters and radio engineers with the Bob Bailey Internship program. A host of both high school and college students have matriculated through the program and gone on to a variety of successful careers.
Tickets are still available for the October 7th Gala celebrating KCEP’s four decades of service. The entire community is invited to come out and meet the staff of Vegas’ soul school station.
